Many species of African wildlife call the Reserve home, including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, white rhino, black rhino, hippo, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, kudu, impala, nyala and warthog to name a few. All of the game drives take place in this private reserve, where you will be one of a privileged few to be game viewing in the reserve on any given day. We are located in the heart of Zululand, in close proximity to Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, uMkhuze Game Reserve, and the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park.
The lodge grounds sprawl through an area of thick riverine vegetation, rich with bird and animal life, and filled with magnificent fig and fever trees. We accommodate a maximum of 18 guests at any one time so your stay is guaranteed to be an exclusive one, and we pride ourselves on offering a personalized experience in an intimate atmosphere. The grounds also include a reception with curio shop, dining room with bar, lounge, and swimming pool.
Meals are served in the dining room, or weather-permitting, in our open-air “boma” around the camp fire. One of the best parts of the bush experience is eating outdoors under the starry African sky. Local cooks prepare the lodge cuisine with an emphasis on South African specialties and local ingredients. We focus on nourishing home-style meals with a special South African twist. Although we do serve a set three course menu, the kitchen is happy to accommodate any special dietary needs. The bar features a hand-picked selection of South African wines and beers for you to try.
As an optional extra for our more adventurous guests we offer our bush trails. A bush trail is an interpretative guided walk with an experienced game ranger and a small group of guests. These trails are one of the best ways to experience the African bush, up close and personal, and many of our guests rate it as a highlight of their African experience. Walks are undertaken in the early morning or late afternoon and run for 2 - 3 hours. In the interest of safety, the group is limited to six persons and all guests must be age 16 or older.
